Women's basketball staff members shall not exceed 100 recruiting person days. A recruiting person day is defined as one coach engaged in an off-campus recruiting activity of a women's basketball PSA on one day; two coaches engaged in recruiting activities on the same day shall use two recruiting days.

Exceptions: Evals are permitted during the National Junior College Athletic Association championship competition.

In those states that play high school softball season in the fall, evaluations shall be permissible during those seasons, except during dead periods.

* Each institution is limited to 50 evaluation days (August 1 through July 31) per Bylaw 13.02.7.2, which do not include employment of coaches in instructional camps/clinics or the observation of prospects participating in high school softball competition.

**Dates are based on the 2017 NCAA Division I Women's Softball Championship. Dead period remains in effect until noon the day following the conclusion of the Women's College World Series. If the championship series ends after two games, the dead period ends on June 7 at noon.

An institution's authorized coaching staff members (see  Bylaw 11.7.6) may evaluate on only one day and may attend only one event on that day during this period. Such an evant shall occur within a 30-mile radius of the site of the NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Championship (Columbus, OH). Coaches from the same institution who attend such an event shall attend the same event on the same day. Coaches shall not attend events that occur at the same time that any intercollegiate competition in conjunction with the NCAA championship occurs.

Contact Period. A period when it is permissible for authorized athletics department staff members to make in-person, off-campus recruiting contacts and evaluations.

Evaluation Period. A period when it is permissible for authorized athletics department staff members to be involved in off-campus activities designed to assess the academic qualifications and playing ability of prospective student-athletes. No in-person, off-campus recruiting contacts shall be made with the PSA during an evaluation period.

Quiet Period. A period when it is permissible to make in-person recruiting contacts only on the institution's campus. No in-person, off-campus recruiting contacts or evaluations may be made during the quiet period.

Dead Period. A period when it is not permissible to make in-person recruiting contacts or evaluations on or off-campus or to permit official or unofficial visits by PSAs to campus.

Contact. Any face-to-face encounter between a PSA (or their relatives/legal guardians) and an institutional staff member or athletics representative during which any dialogue occurs in excess of an exchange of a greeting. Additionally, any prearranged encounter that occurs on the grounds of the PSA's educational institution or the site of organized competition or practice involving PSAs shall be considered contact regardless of whether any conversation occurs. If a staff member is approached by a PSA (or their relatives/legal guardians) at a location not pre-arranged and the dialogue does not exceed a greeting (and the staff member takes steps to terminate the encounter swiftly) it does not count as a contact.

Evaluation. Any off-campus activity designed to assess the academic qualifications or athletics ability of a PSA, including any visit to their educational institution (during which no contact occurs) or the observation of the PSA participating in any practice or competition at any site.
